"Taemong" dreams

In Korean culture, there are “Taemong” dreams that tell about the Baby’s Future.

A “taemong” is a dream that tells about the future of the baby that is about to be born.
Taemongs are dreamt not only by the baby’s parents but by the other adults in the family as well.

You can guess the sex of the baby or its future by the taemong.
It differs by each province, but usually dreams with huge serpents, dragons, cranes, oxen, the sun, stars, axes, peppers and cucumbers means that the baby will be a boy.

Dreams with small animals or peaches, flowers, fruits, fish and beads are believed to be representing a baby girl.

Dreams with dragons and shooting stars that fall onto a woman’s dress are believed to indicate that the baby will become a famous person.

Proposal

I would like to explore the topic of dreams. The physical aspect, interpretation and visual representation.

Dreaming is a vital part of our lives, but only few people pay great attention to them. I believe that dreams can be used as a tool for healing and improving our lives.

I will look into dream interpretation in different cultures, superstitions, medical research on sleeping disorders. And gather data from people's dreams, drawings, anecdotes, etc.
